Sorry for being a douche,
The battery meter had gone from green to red, the GPS signal was lost, and my smart phone became as dumb as a rock.
We had walked for hours, up and down the steep hills, trying to find our way back to the car.
The sun was slowly burning our skin, the dog was thirsty and I was ready for a cold brew.
At the end of the trail we thought we would reach the modern world again: roads, cars, streets leading back to parked cars... "What was the name of that street again?"....
We were stumped when we were blocked by a giant gate. "Is that the Road we're supposed to take?"
Frustration mode was no in full power: "Well what are we supposed to do?"
Silence, Sounds of Birds Chirping, Sound of me Sighing, Sound of ruffling leaves.
Three Dogs appeared out of nowhere and you were walking behind them like a savior in disguise who was going to rescue us and lead us back to our beloved automobile.
We smiled, we got excited and we even almost liked you until you broke the news. Our choices were simple: either hike back the way we came from (my feet did not think that was funny at all) or hike to the end of the trail and prepare ourselves for a tortuous climb back to the parking lot....
I know you were trying to help, I would bet you are a decent person, but I lost it.
The trip back to the car now sounded like another expedition and the sun was getting ready for bed, so I just didn't like your ideas at all. I probably could have bee nicer and I certainly could have been a little more patient.
Sorry for being a Douche
We aim at being decent human beings, or at least most of us do, but all of us slip at one point or another and whether we like it or not, we've all been a douche to somebody at some point in our lives.
Apologizing can be hard, we would like to offer an outlet for people who would like to apologize to people they may have hurt when they inadvertently became a douche for a moment.
